Healthy Lives Matter Spotlights Alzheimer’s and Dementia

Tarrant County Commissioner Roy Charles Brooks hosts the 8th Annual Healthy Lives Matter Alzheimer’s Education Seminar. Saturday, August 19, 2023, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Tarrant County College Trinity River Campus, 300 Trinity Campus Circle, Fort Worth, Texas 76102.  The seminar will provide insights into Alzheimer’s disease progression and offer practical solutions for coping with challenging situations.

THE SEMINAR WILL BE HIGHLIGHTED BY AN “ALZHEIMER’S CONGRESSIONAL UPDATE” FROM UNITED STATES CONGRESSMAN MARC VEASEY, 33RD DISTRICT OF TEXAS.

For this one-day event, Healthy Lives Matter is partnering with the Alzheimer’s Association North Central Texas Chapter.  It will include the Dementia Live Experience which helps elevate empathy and improve the quality of visits with family members and will offer CEU’s to nurses, social workers, certified case managers, and licensed professional counselors.

An estimated 6.7 million Americans age 65 and older are living with Alzheimer’s in 2023.  Seventy-three percent are age 75 or older.  The population of Americans age 65 and older is projected to grow from 58 million in 2021 to 88 million by 2050.  As the size of the U.S. population age 65 and older continues to grow, so will the number and proportion of Americans with Alzheimer’s or other dementias, according to the Alzheimer’s Association.
