Ground spraying for West Nile set for July 19-20 in Southeast Tarrant County;

No human cases reported to county health officials

July 17, 2020 (Tarrant County, TX) –Tarrant County Public Health (TCPH) will do ground spraying in two unincorporated portions of southeast Tarrant County in response to a West Nile Virus (WNV) mosquito sample from the area. Weather permitting, spraying will occur between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. on Sunday, July 19 and Monday, July 20 after all resident notifications have been completed. No human cases have been reported in 2020.

So far this season, 1,978 mosquito samples have been tested since West Nile Virus seasonal surveillance began on April 1. A total of 92 samples from the Tarrant County region have tested positive for WNV.

TCPH reminds residents to take measures to safeguard against the West Nile Virus. Residents should dump standing water on their property, use repellent, and whenever possible, dress in long pants and long sleeves during all hours of the day.
