Confirmed COVID-19 deaths now at 75 for Tarrant County

Tarrant County Public Health reports four COVID-19 deaths

May 3, 2020 (Tarrant County, TX) -Tarrant County Public Health (TCPH) today reported four COVID-19 deaths.

The deceased include a man in his 80s, a female in her 90s, a female in her 60s and a female in her 80s. All are from Fort Worth; three had underlying health conditions.

Tarrant County now has 75 confirmed deaths from the COVID-19 virus. 613 people have recovered.

“We extend our sympathy to the families for their loss,” said Tarrant County Public Health Director Vinny Taneja. He continued to encourage all residents to engage only in essential activities; stay home as much as possible; and follow these Public Health guidelines:

• Stay home as much as possible.
• If you do go out, wear a mask or scarf to cover your mouth and nose.
• Practice social distancing by staying six feet away from others when you are out.
• Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
• Don’t touch your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
• Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
• If you experience difficulty breathing or persistent fever, call your primary care provider.
• Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue or your sleeve.
• Frequently clean and disinfect touched objects and surfaces.
  

COVID-19 causes a respiratory illness with cough, fever and shortness of breath and may lead to bronchitis and severe pneumonia.
