Question 6: What if I have a lost, damaged or stolen sticker or plate?
What should I do if my registration sticker or license plates are lost, damaged or stolen, or I need to replace them?
Plates and stickers can be replaced on a currently registered vehicle for the registered owner with an Application for Replacement License Plates and/or Registration Sticker (VTR-60) and a fee of $6.50.
An application form (VTR-60) is available in the “Most Requested” Forms list at Texas Department of Motor Vehicles website or by email request to mvt@tarrantcountytx.gov. An acceptable form of ID is also required.
Application, fees, and additional documentation, if any, can be mailed or placed in the secure drop box. A drop box is available inside select Tax Office locations.
Our mailing address is:
Tarrant County Tax Office
100 E. Weatherford Street
Fort Worth, TX 76196
We accept checks/money orders/cashier’s checks made payable to Wendy Burgess, Tax Assessor-Collector, through the mail and in the drop box. No cash or credit card information please. The sticker and/or plates are mailed to you. Please allow three weeks for processing and mail time.
Replacement requests from anyone other than the registered owner must also provide an acceptable form of ID and a Permission Letter signed by the registered owner(s) along with the owner’s acceptable form of ID.
