Summary: The donor is a Fort Worth lawyer and the great grandson of John Peter Smith (1831-1901), a prominent figure in Fort Worth history who is often referred to as the "father of Fort Worth."

The donor gave the following rocking chair that once belonged to John Peter Smith. The chair was given to the donor by his mother, Josephine Terrell Smith Hudson, when he began practicing law at McGown, Godfrey, Decker Law Firm. She told him that the rocking chair was located in the first law office of Fort Worth and was made by state prison inmates.
