Chandler Merritt

Chandler Merritt was named County Administrator by the Tarrant County Commissioners Court on September 19, 2023. 

The County Administrator oversees a $896.6 million budget and over 4,800 employees, including department heads. Merritt works with all elected officials and provides staff support to the Commissioners Court.

Before becoming County Administrator, Merritt was an Assistant County Administrator for two and a half years and a Chief of Staff to the Tarrant County Judge for four years. Prior to Tarrant County, Merritt served as Director of Strategic Services for the City of McKinney and Business Operations Manager for the City of Irving. Before entering public service, Merritt worked for the Hicks Sports Group in a variety of roles, including Assistant Vice President of Business Operations for the Cedar Park Center and various roles for the Dallas Stars and Texas Rangers.

He graduated from The University of Texas at Austin and earned a Master of Public Administration from The University of Texas at Arlington. He is a Credentialed Manager through the International City/County Management Association Executive Board.

Merritt is a Tarrant County native; married to Nikki and they have three children.
